New tactile models developed!

04:02 PM

In context of the technological implementation of AMBAVis different tactile models are developed, which are now also haptically available. Therefore, one art piece of each of the two museum-partners – Gallery Belvedere in Austria and Manchester Museum in Manchester – was produced as tactile model: On the part of Gallery Belvedere the painting “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt is now touchable as relief-printing. The Manchester Museum has produced a 3D-replication of an Egyptian Cat-Sarcophagus.
But this museum objects can not only be touched physically, but also virtually by users with the help of the multimedia device Probos(TM).
To which extent the haptics of the individual tactile models accommodate the needs of visually impaired people, advantages and the scope for improvement of the methods as well as their suitability for paintings and sculptures will be examined by blind and visually impaired people during workshops beginning of March.
